Ok, so this has been on my mind sometime now about how the servers are seperated in WAR, and a few other games alike. My first major mmo was Lineage 2, and there were only 9 servers. Later they added more and took some away and such, but in the beginning there were 9. On these 9, alot of countries played on each one of them. I made friends from all over Europe, South America, and North America. Why is it in Warhammer, I can only play with Americans? I want a worldwide server. Why do we faction out depending on our locations.
I know some of the reasons are language barriers and such, and that I can understand. I just want to know why there isn’t even an option to play on a worldwide server. Why it is split when it comes to Mythic and GOA. I know it can be done because of other games. I like interacting with different people from all over, but as it is now I only get to interact with all people that live in NA. Don’t get me wrong I love the USA, but I also like people from different lands.
I’m not sure if this is even viable now since the game has been out for half a year now, but would be cool. Also I know this and that is if I ever get on development team the servers will be global by language, and I won’t start with 50+ servers. You need masses in WAR, and by having alot of options to pick from as far as servers it spread everyone out. That’s why it felt empty on Dark Crag the first time around. Even with all these server transfers going down, I’m not sure how it will turn out. I will keep nuking on though because WAR is fun, and I like the devs!
Next you’ll be wanting to play alongside the Russians! When will this blasphemy end?!?
Seriously, I’m down with world wide servers and have always wanted to play on a European server. (Un-patriotic reasons? Perhaps.)
I did make a comment at Warhammer Alliance inviting all the EU players to move in with me here in Hawaii so we can play WAR together. No one has taken me up on the offer as of yet. Que Lastima
As far as language barriers go there are a lot of Americans who can’t type/ spell/ form a coherant sentence and when they try it might as well be in a foreign language because I have no clue what they’re trying to say.
Anyhow, good post, good topic, good God!

I’ve always wanted to play on those US overly-populated servers. On Karak-Eight-Peaks or any other supposed to be high populated EU servers I never get instant queues. I’ve heard of them though, meh.
Anyhow, aye, I would also love to delete the goddamn GOA/Mythic conflict thing so we can end this era of mind-numbing confusion.

LOL, I would take you up on that offer but in Hawaii it would be more boozing that warhammering!
Thanks for the comments!

Actually, I play on Phoenix Throne and my guild has people from Australia, New Zealand, England and Germany
There’s no IP block or anything like that. Mythic needed a company to physically keep servers in Europe for maximum ping and someone to distribute and advertise it there. Mythic is a small company, licensing is the only way for them to see worldwide spread of their games. Lineage 2 is made by NCSoft, which is a massive company and has had an American branch (in Austin, San Francisco and recently Seattle) for a long time. They had no need to license.

Ok I understand that, but they still could have given the option.
I shouldn’t have to do a work around to play with crazy Euro’s. Also EA backs Mythic which is a huge company also.
